Elbphilharmonie - Programme

The musical programme of the Elbphilharmonie covers the whole range of classical music – from the Renaissance to Contemporary Music, from solo performances to chamber music and big choral and orchestral concerts. The stylistic spectrum even reaches beyond the classical world to jazz, pop and world music.

Since 2007 Christoph Lieben-Seutter is general director of the Elbphilharmonie. Additionally, he is responsible for his own program with more than 120 concerts that are taking place on private events, in the Laeiszhalle and other locations in Hamburg.

Up to 650 concerts per year are performed in the halls of the Elbphilharmonie and the Laeiszhalle. 200 of them are homemade "Elbphilharmonie Concerts". Most of the concerts are played by orchestras, choirs and ensembles from Hamburg. But also private organizers are adding international highlights to the programme. Residence Orchestra of the Elbphilharmonie is the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, led by principal conductor Thomas Hengelbrock. The Ensemble Resonanz that brings together classic and club experience at St.  Pauli is performing in the second hall of the Elbphilharmonie. The Recital Hall hosts up to 550 visitors and is offering chamber music, jazz and solo performances.
